A Day In Round Rock, TX
I wokeup at the Cracker Barrel in Round Rock, TX. I headed to Planet Fitness to get a 30 minute cycle ride in and then shower. The sun was shinning as I came out of the gym and I made myself a bowl of cereal. I found a Starbucks around the corner and grabbed a coffee. Today would be a working day.
First, on the agenda was my regular Subaru checkup. There was a large dealership a few miles away in the town of Georgetown. I pulled up to the Service area, and realized the overhang looked very low. I pulled to the overhang and the bike on top had about two inches to clear. When I got to the service desk they told me I’d needed to take the bike off for service, because when it went up on the rack, it would be crushed. As usual when I pull into a Subaru dealership, they were interested in how I’ve converted the back of the car to support my trip. The service people were extremely friendly and it took about an hour to complete everything.
I searched for a library and found that Round Rock had a beautiful new library with a lot of parking. There were plenty of tables to work at and the atmosphere was great. I spent most of the afternoon in the library until it closed around 6:00 pm. Onside the third floor location, I could see a maze in the plaza below. It was constantly filled with children of all ages, running, walking, crawling, rolling and jumping from start to finish. Some didn’t understand the concept of a maze while being shown by and older sibling how to get to the end. It was fascinating to watch how much interest there was in this space.
I looked for a place to eat and found Palermo Pasta House. As I arrived, there were probably 20 people sitting outside on the stone wall and more people inside. The hostess told me it would be at least an hour. I asked her if I could sit at the bar. She said she needed to check with the bar tender. She handed me a menu and said take any seat. The restaurant makes its own pasta and sauces. You pick your pasta and then the sauce. I ordered Taglierini pasta with a gorgonzola sauce. The owner / chef was self taught from Argentina and has studied cooking in various parts of the world. I also had ordered the tiramisu, which was outrageously good. It definitely wasn’t frozen Sara-Lee tiramisu. Absolutely great food.
After dinner, I walked around the main part of Round Rock and took some night photos.
